For those who want to avoid the glitz and glamour of the Gold Coast, then you should head north from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Coast stretches from the top of Bribie Island to Noosa, approximately 45 kilometres (29 miles) from one end to the other. Heading north from the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, the major resort locations are Caloundra, Maroochydore, Coolun, Peregian and Noosa. Caloundra is located approximately 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Brisbane and it takes approximately one hour to get there by car.
